Cricket for iPhone #1
Aussie Cricket thumps world-class competition
Perth, Australia — February 6, 2009 — Western Australian developer Spinfast has ended the State's drought of commercial game releases, with its début title climbing not just to number 2 on the Australian iTunes Store top games chart but making it all the way to the top.
Here, Spinfast Cricket sits above Electronic Art's edition of the Milton Bradley classic Monopoly.
Even more impressive is the fact that Spinfast Cricket comes in only one place lower on the "Top Paid Applications", sitting at number 3 on the Australian store.
Spinfast founder Robert Spencer says: "The response to our first title has been wonderful. We knew that Cricket would be reasonably popular with an Australian audience but we never dreamed we would be competing head-to-head with such powerful brands with the game only released a month ago. We're not resting though: we've just uploaded a new version to Apple with new features and even better gameplay.
"We're hoping that our continual support of our customers and the constant upgrades to the game will be rewarded with an extra sales spurt that will push us past the final hurdle and into the #1 spot".
Spinfast Cricket allows players to take to the crease and play out anything from a single over to a 20-over match from the batter's point of view.
Spinfast is WA owned and operated; being founded by Spencer as a more intimate games production alternative for Perth, after he established the multinational Interzone Entertainment in the city in 2006.
"In many ways this success validates my decision to establish Interzone and Spinfast in Perth. We've got a fantastic, close-knit team here that combines local graduates and highly-experienced WA natives who have returned from jobs in the US and Asia with a wealth of expertise and knowledge.
"At the moment we have to pick our targets carefully but that combination is clearly a winning formula and, with support from local investors, other industries and government, I'm sure we can nurture the fledgling game development industry in Perth to be amongst the best in the world."
About Spinfast
Spinfast is an exciting new Australian game development house, gathering talent from around the country into their Perth studio. The team is deliberately small and sprightly, with experience that belies its jaunty step and sparkling eyes. Spinfast draws on talent filtered through Aussie game companies like MicroForte, Big World, Red Tribe, FuzzyEyes, Silver Lightning and Interzone, as well as international developer Matahari Studios.
